Sugarloaf Class Level Descriptions

INF/TOT – Infant/Toddler (6 mo-3 years)

Parent and child participate in water adjustment, safety and basic skill activities.

 

Preschool classes-children 3-5 years

PS1 – Preschool 1 (3-5 years)

Bridges Inf/Tot to Preschool levels. Introduction to swimming for non-swimmers with emphasis on basic motor skills, face in the water, blowing bubbles, holding breath, going under water and jumping in the water.

 PS2 – Preschool 2 (3-5 years)

For children who are comfortable, confident and already going underwater and holding their breath under the water. This class will focus on teaching unassisted swimming.

 PS3 – Preschool 3 (3-5 years)

For children who swim 5 feet unassisted with their face in the water. This class will focus on beginner’s front crawl, arm recovery, independent breathing and an introduction to backstroke.

 PS4 – Preschool 4 (3-5 years)

For children who swim at least 20 feet independently and are ready for advanced technique instruction in rotary breathing and backstroke.

 

Gradeschool classes-children 6 years and up

GS1 – Grade School 1 (6 years and up)

Introduction to swimming for non-swimmers or those who swim less then 20 feet with their face in the water. GS1 teaches a modified stroke with face in the water.

GS2 – Grade School 2 (6 years and up)

For those who swim at least 20 feet independently and are ready for advanced freestyle and backstroke techniques.

GS3 – Grade School 3 (6 years and up)

For those who can correctly swim freestyle and backstroke at least 25 yards and are ready to focus on endurance building techniques and diving. GS3 is the first class that the instructor teaches from the pool deck.

PC1 – Pre-Competitive 1 (6 years and up)

Teaches butterfly and breaststroke to those already comfortable and proficient in freestyle and backstroke.

PC2 – Pre-Competitive 2 (6 years and up)

For those who have learned all four competitive strokes and are ready for advanced competitive techniques. Bridges swim lessons to swim team.

 

ADULT – Adult Beginner (13 years and up)

For the adult who wishes to learn or improve on the basics of swimming.

ASC – Adult Stoke Clinic (13 years and up)

For the adult who can swim freestyle and backstroke and is ready to increase technique and distance.

GS2 – Grade School 2 (6 years and up)

For those who swim at least 20 feet of freestyle and backstroke and are ready for advance technique in those strokes and rotary breathing.

GS3 – Grade School 3 (6 years and up)

For those who can correctly swim freestyle and backstroke at least 25 yards and are ready to focus on endurance building techniques and diving. GS3 is the first class that the instructor teaches from the pool deck.

Infant-Toddler (6 months—3 years) Parent and child participate in basic water adjustment and beginning skill activities.
PRESCHOOL CLASSES: Ages 3 Years – 6 Years
(PS1) Preschool #1 (Bridges Infant/Toddler to Preschool Levels) Introduction to swimming for non-swimmers who are hesitant in the water and need gentle instruction.
(PS2) Preschool #2 For children who are comfortable and confident with holding their face in the water at least 5 seconds and are ready to learn swimming without floatation.
(PS3) Preschool #3 For children who swim at least 5 feet by themselves and are ready for beginner’s front crawl and an introduction to backstroke.
(PS4) Preschool #4 For children who swim at least 25 feet independently and are ready for advanced technique instruction in rotary breathing and backstroke.
(PS5) Preschool #5 For children who swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke and are ready to focus on endurance with an introduction to butterfly, breaststroke and diving.
GRADESCHOOL CLASSES: Ages 5 Years and Up
(GS1) Gradeschool #1 Introduction to swimming for non-swimmers or children who swim less than 20
feet with their face in the water.
(GS2) Gradeschool #2 For children who can swim at least 20 feet by themselves and are ready for advanced techniques in freestyle and backstroke.
(GS3) Gradeschool #3 For those who can swim freestyle with rotary breathing and backstroke for 45 feet; and are ready to focus on endurance building techniques and diving.
(PC) Pre-Competitive Teaches butterfly and breaststroke to those who are already competent in freestyle and backstroke.
PRE-SWIM TEAM STROKE CLINICS: Ages 6 and Up
(SC1) Stroke Clinic #1 Focusing on competitive swimming techniques for swimmers excelling in all 4 competitive strokes.
(SC2) Stroke Clinic #2 For children who have completed SC1 and are ready to focus on endurance building and turns.
ADULT CLASSES: Ages 14 Years and Up
(ADULT) Adult For the adult who wishes to learn the basics of swimming while focusing on proper breathing techniques and backstroke.
(ASC) Adult Stroke Clinic For the adult who can swim freestyle and backstroke a minimum of 25 yards and are ready to focus on building endurance. Butterfly and Breaststroke will be introduced.

Lap Swim Passes

Lap Swim Policies

  1. NO PUBLIC RECREATIONAL SWIMMING.
  2. NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY.
  3. Lap Swimming is only permitted to swim team members, swim lesson members and adult lap swimmers 18 or older.
  4. Completion of a Lap Swimmer Registration form is necessary for all members wishing to use the pool for lap swimming.
  5. Lap Swimming is only for swimming laps, exercising & practicing in the lanes provided. Playing in the pool and/or loitering is not allowed.
