Welcome parents and swimmers, 

Practice for the 2007-2008 season officially begins Monday, August 20^th 2007.  This handbook is designed to familiarize you with our program and answer your questions.  Specifically it addresses assigned groups, explanation of monthly tuition protocol, Buzz Cards, parking on the Georgia Tech Campus, parents exercising rules at the CRC, swim meet information, procedure on how to enter a meet, set up of meet entry escrow account (Amateur Swimming Foundation account), meet schedule, relay selection procedures and other pertinent information including a frequently asked question section. 

Our main avenue of conveying information to you is done through email. We post updates on our website at www.swimatlanta.com.  Please make it a habit to check weekly and keep informed. 

If at any point you have questions, please direct them to our coaching staff, either before or after practice.  Thank you for choosing Swim Atlanta where all your swimming needs are fulfilled.

SwimAtlanta West Staff and Coaches: 

Here at Swim Atlanta, we have a wonderful coaching staff and support staff here to assist you.  Below is the contact information for the West Pool; if at anytime you need to contact us, please feel free to do so.  Parents should sit in the spectator seating and not on the deck during practice times. 

If you feel it necessary to speak with your child’s coach during the season, please use email at swimatlantawest@bellsouth.net or leave us a voice message at 678-230-4248.  We will call you back ASAP.  It is inappropriate to speak with any staff member during practice times or on the pool deck.  The coaches are busy with the swimmers who need our undivided attention.

Parking at Georgia Tech: 

You have two options when parking at Georgia Tech.  The first is to park along Tech Parkway on either side of the road after 4 PM.  This option is FREE.  The second option is to purchase a parking permit to park in the parking deck located on the north side of the CRC.  This option is available for $100 per semester.  Use your swimmer’s buzz card to enter the parking deck; swiping the magnetic stripe of your swimmers buzz card into the card reader then activates the gate.  To purchase this parking pass you must go in person to the parking office (located at the three-way intersection, corner of Hemphill and Ferst Drive) and ask for Cheryl Clay.  If you have any questions ahead of time please email her at Cheryl.Clay@parking.gatech.edu. 

Buzz Cards / GT Id’s: 

Only the swimmers need to obtain a buzz card.  Once I receive your completed registration forms, I electronically submit information to GT.  They process it and get you into their system.  Once in the GT system, you can begin the process of obtaining your own buzz card.  Each week the membership desk will be open to take your picture for your buzz card.  The hours of operation are M-W-F 8am-4pm and T-Th 8am-8pm. The cost is $20 for each new card and $20 for a lost or replacement card; this is due at the time the picture is taken.  There is a three to five day turn around for processing.  Pick your card up at the Membership desk once three to five days have passed. This card gains you access to the building and is to be used every time upon entry.  Please note, if you decide to stop swimming during the year but plan to continue at a later date keep your buzz card in a safe place as you will need it again. 

Parents exercising at CRC: 

Many parents take advantage of the opportunity to exercise while their children are swimming.  As you walk into the CRC, the desk to your left is the membership desk.  Daily passes, weekly or bulk passes can be purchased at the desk for $7 per visit.  Please do not exercise when you have not purchased a pass; we will lose this opportunity if the parents abuse this privilege.  If you have questions please email membership@crc.gatech.edu.
